Shortbarrel OZ Tyler 7yr 10mo Single Barrel Bourbon 137.4p - Kitsap Whiskey Society Exclusive
Only available with Kitsap Still Austin Cask Strength Rye Custom Blend Combo.Â
When I went to Short Barrel this summer, I was excited to meet the team and taste some barrels. But I was really there to see a 13-year Heaven Hill barrel that was slated to be picked by my friend Jorge Valdes for his new project, King of Miami. A few months later, Jorge went to Short Barrel, and I gave him some advice the day before: âPick by flavor, not just by the best age statement.â Sure enough, he called me and said a pair of OZ Tyler barrels blew him away, even surpassing the Heaven Hill barrel! He selected one for King of Miami, and the other was sent to me to sample for a possible Kitsap Whiskey selection.
When the sample bottle arrived, I couldnât wait to crack it open! I took my first sip and was blown away. The intense flavors of cherry, peach, and baking spices coated my entire palate. I immediately thought it reminded me of the 2024 George T. Stagg and Stagg batch 24D.
A wise man once said, âDonât judge a book by its cover,â and when it comes to barrel picking, the saying should be, âDonât judge a barrel by its age statementâonly by its flavor.â
When we release a bourbon barrel selection, I want it to be something truly special at a great value, given how many options you have to choose from. I think this will easily live up to that standard.
Cheers, and thank you for supporting our club.Â
