Thirteenth Colony Finished with Maple Wood Spirals *please read*
The oldest operating distillery in Georgia since Prohibition, 13th Colony Distilleries is launching the limited release 113 Bourbon, a higher proof and flavorful bourbon at a suggested retail price of $62.99. Aged between five and six years in South Georgiaâs ideal climate with toasted Maple wood spirals and bottled at 113 proof, the 113 Bourbon is launching mid-March in select markets.Â
âThis expression showcases the depth of flavor produced by aging in our South Georgia climate,â said Maxwell Darby, president of 13th Colony Distilleries, which is located in Americus, Georgia, where the regionâs high-temperature swings and steady humidity are perfect for naturally aging bourbon.Â
âWe wanted to put out a specialty release that balances a higher proof with approachability in flavor and price,â Darby said of the 113 Bourbon. âWhether youâre a seasoned bourbon drinker or someone looking to explore higher-proof whiskeys, our 113 Bourbon is a flavorful pour that wonât break the bank.â
With a nose thatâs fun and complex with light caramel and fresh marshmallow, 113 Bourbon opens up to sweet corn, straw, maple and clover honey. Itâs followed by a hint of peppercorn and malted milk ball. The palate starts intense due to the higher proof, then quickly warms into sweet corn and butter cookie with lemon peel and a slight herbal finish. The up-front smokey oak taste meets the maple for a nice bittersweet chocolate, and it coats the palate with a slight warm spice finish. The 113 Bourbon has a mash bill of 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% malted barley.Â
The 113 Bourbon is another addition to 13th Colonyâs successful limited edition series, including last yearâs commemorative 15th Anniversary Bourbon, the immensely popular Double Oak Bourbon (this yearâs release coming in fall 2025) and the 2024 Cask Strength Southern Bourbon.
